The Fender American Professional II Precision Bass is what happens when you reach the end of more than sixty years of evolution. This affectionately built, hard-working bass has been made to provide an undeniably solid foundation for the modern musician. All the traditional details are present and combined with that revered flexible and adaptable sound alongside a mass of little tweaks. The American Professional II is the new pro-grade standard and naturally comes complete with its very own deluxe case.
The American Professional II Precision Bass: Born to be Played
The Fender American Pro II Precision bass is no show-piece. Built for serious business, it comes fitted with a comfortable 1963 C-profile neck, the back of which has been finished with a lush-feeling coat of 'Super-Natural' satin that feels deliciously fast and smooth in your fret hand, even if it's dripping with sweat. Another deeply welcome upgrade is the extra-rounded fretboard edges - in fact, even the top corner of the neck-plate and heel have been rounded off for extra comfort at the highest of the 20 narrow-tall frets, so if the devil does lie in the details, then this bass might actually be divine.
The V-Mod II: The Sound of the Next Generation
The much-loved V-Mod pickups have also reached their second generation in this American-made model. Fender have mounted a refreshed V-Mod II Split Single-Coil PB so you're guaranteed exacting definition and tone as well as classic P-bass-style punch and growl. The inclusion of a 4-Saddle HiMass Vintage bridge is yet another rich treat that can be used as a string-through-body or toploader as preferred, so you can attain the perfect, and most personalised sound and feel possible.

Het bestelproces, verpakking, snelheid van de levering en communicatie is bij Bax ook deze keer weer helemaal prima.
De basgitaar zelf speelt en klinkt heerlijk, en is duidelijk gemaakt van materialen van hoge kwaliteit, maar voor een instrument in deze prijscategorie valt wel wat op te merken over de quality control bij Fender.
Zo zitten er 2 kleine foutjes, een soort zilveren flakes, in de finish, onder de blanke lak. Ze zitten aan de achterkant vlakbij de neckplate, zijn maar 1 à 2mm, en de bas klinkt gewoon heerlijk, dus het maakt voor mij op zich niet zoveel uit, maar eigenlijk is het onacceptabel voor dit geld.
Ook was de E snaar verkeerd om de tuning machine gewonden. Een raar foutje, maar makkelijk gefixt.
Al met al ben ik super tevreden over de klank en bespeelbaarheid van de American Pro 2 P Bass. Wat betreft sound precies wat ik zocht, maar er heeft echt iemand zitten slapen bij de quality control afdeling van Fender. Helaas lees en hoor ik dat vaker de laatste tijd, waardoor ik voor een volgende bass aankoop toch eerst naar andere merken zal kijken.

Ordered two of these. The first one had a flaw in the finish and the second one had small dents in the back of the neck near the body, as well as (what looked like) a repair job in the fretboard. Very disappointing for an instrument in this price range. I decided to go to another retailer to check out a third one... That one had a different issue in the finish (a white spot of paint underneath the clearcoat). Seriously, Fender? For 2000 euros these issues are not acceptable.
All three were set up nicely and played well, which makes the above even more disappointing. Maybe you'd think my expectations are too high, though I own another American Fender (2004) as well as a Mexican Vintera Jazzmaster (2020), those are both perfect. I have helped beginners pick out guitars for 400 euros that had none of these problems. I understand there's a backlog at Fender but come on.
All three were set up nicely and played well, which makes the above even more disappointing. Maybe you'd think my expectations are too high, though I own another American Fender (2004) as well as a Mexican Vintera Jazzmaster (2020), those are both perfect. Zo blij dat die bij mij in de kamer staat! Geweldige bas, heerlijke sound, uitstekende bespeelbaarheid.

Deze bas straalt alleen maar kwaliteit uit. De stemmechanieken, knoppen en brug zijn groot en degelijk. De hals voelt meteen vertrouwd aan en het spelen lijkt makkelijker en vloeiender te gaan dan op mijn oude bas (een Hagstrom, ook geen kinderachtig ding). Het geluid is krachtig en toch warm. En dan ziet hij er ook nog heel mooi uit én krijg je er een robuuste koffer bij. Ik ben heel tevreden met deze aankoop.
