General

The 1959 Journeyman Relic Precision Bass in Vintage Blonde is a new version of the classic '59 Fender bass. Why 1959? That was the year that this legendary bass guitar was originally fitted with a rosewood fretboard and clay dot position markers. Fender's Custom Shop added the finishing touch to this Journeyman Relic with the tasteful urethane lacquer layer. This gives the Precision solid-body bass the look and feel of a vintage instrument that's been played often but maintained well since the late 1950's. The hardware gives it its charming personality, from the vintage-style machine heads to the 4-saddle bridge and the chrome covers on the middle pickup.

Fender 1959 Journeyman Relic Precision Bass VB RW: vintage look and sound

The sound of this '59 Precision Bass is just as balanced and authentic as its classic predecessors thanks to the alder body and '60s C profile maple bolt-on neck. There is a difference though - the punch in the trebles is a little more pleasant and rounded. A Custom Shop '59 Precision Bass single coil ensures, together with the potentiometers, for the tone and volume of that instantly recognisable P-Bass sound, no matter what style of music it's used for. To make the classic playing experience complete, this bass has a traditional 7.25-inch radius and 20 vintage-style frets.

Custom Shop Time Machine

With the Time Machine series, Fender's Custom Shop delivers top-quality reissued guitars and bass guitars with the vintage look and feel of classic Fenders. In addition to finishes like Relic, Closet Classic and New Old Stock, you can now also choose Heavy Relic and Journeyman Relic. Fender USA's master luthiers make sublime replicas of highly-acclaimed original string instruments right down to the smallest details. They succeed in capturing the essence of these legendary Fender basses and guitars perfectly.
