General

The EX-BASS FL is the first archtop bass guitar that D'Angelico have produced and also their first fretless model. They've taken inspiration from their own semi-acoustic guitars to create this new design. Thanks to the hollow body, the bass is lightweight and produces a deep, dark sound. Its fretless design also means its sound is reminiscent of that produced by a double bass.

Versatile sounds

Deep and dark sounds are not all this bass is capable of delivering, however. The two humbuckers make it possible to conjure up a wide variety of tones. The bridge pickup, for instance, delivers a clear and bright sound while the neck pickup adds warmth. That means you not only get a double bass-like sound but also a bright and modern one whenever you want it.

The D’Angelico brand

D’Angelico is a legendary name in the world of guitars. At the tender age of 9, founder John D’Angelico, began working in his great uncle’s luthier shop where they built high-quality violins and mandolins. He applied the knowledge gained from building these instruments to the development of his own line of D’Angelico guitars and opened his first shop in Little Italy, New York, in 1932. After John D’Angelico died, his apprentice James D’Aquisto took over the company. To this very day, these two luthiers are considered to be the very best archtop guitar-builders of all time.
Now, D'Angelico is offering a whole series of guitars that are built according to the specifications of John D'Angelico himself. That means anyone can enjoy a true D'Angelico guitar.
