General

The Color Sound 900 series cymbals by Paiste are impossible to miss, thanks to their coloured coating. This blue ride, however, also stands out due to the fact that it's 24 inches in diameter. It's made from Paiste's own CuSn8 Bronze (B8-bronze alloy) formula and hammered by hand while keeping the weight extra heavy. The result is a powerful sound and an impressive volume that can cut through any mix with ease. What's more, the high-profile bell delivers a defined ping and you can count on a full stick sound.

Effect of the coating

The coloured coating used in Paiste's Color Sound 900 series is applied in such a thin layer, you can still see the hammer marks and grooves clearly. The effect on the tone is minimal, but you can expect a slightly drier sound and a shorter sustain than Paiste's non-coated cymbals, but you'll get a little more attack in return.
