The Sontronics Apollo 2 may come with a serious price tag, but if you're looking to record an entire orchestra performing in a large space, this ribbon mic is your best bet! Years of continuous development of the original product have resulted in the Apollo 2 and many high profile recording engineers and studios (such as Abbey Road) have already found their way to this mic. This beautiful device can be used overhead in concert rooms or as a microphone for pianos, drums, orchestras and choirs. Because of the X-Y Blumlein configuration, the Apollo 2 excellently picks up spatial ambiance in stereo, which, agspain, is perfect for capturing large orchestras. An adapter cable to split the mic output into two XLR signals, a shock mount and a sturdy, aluminium flight case come included.

Marantz Launches Ribbon Microphones and Boom Poles

For some time now, Marantz has been focusing its attention on the pro audio segment, which has led to the development of a few very interesting products like the MPM-500R ribbon microphone. They've also come up with four boom pole stands in their Audio Scope series, the B9, B9C, B11 and the B11C. Some of these boom poles have an integrated XLR cable, which is what the 'C' in their name stands for.
