Back in 1998, the Royer R-121 marked the return of the ribbon microphone. Unlike those bulky and vulnerable models from the 1950s, this Royer Labs microphone combines that classic ribbon sound with modern ease of use. Compact and robust, the R-121 is able to handle a gigantic amount of sound pressure and boasts a high output thanks to the fitted Neodymium magnet. This modern classic has spent the last twenty years proving its worth as the perfect microphone for guitar amps, drum and wind instruments and can be plugged into any microphone preamp.

Marantz Launches Ribbon Microphones and Boom Poles

For some time now, Marantz has been focusing its attention on the pro audio segment, which has led to the development of a few very interesting products like the MPM-500R ribbon microphone. They've also come up with four boom pole stands in their Audio Scope series, the B9, B9C, B11 and the B11C. Some of these boom poles have an integrated XLR cable, which is what the 'C' in their name stands for.
