General

Many a pedal-builder has tried to digitise the much-loved sound of a bucket-brigade delay circuit, often resulting in something that just sounds too clean and misses the complex subtleties of a solid chunk of analogue hardware. The OG bucket-brigade circuits were also notorious for getting way to noisy and distorted when a longer delay-time was applied. With all of that in mind, the Strymon Brigadier dBucket might be the only model that convincingly emulates every last, sweet analogue detail, backed up by a just-as-sweet solve for that noise problem.

The Soft Power of the Brigadier dBucket

The Brigadier dBucket is home to an insanely powerful SHARC processor that performs the mind-boggling calculations necessary for creating an impressive bucket-brigade emulation with minimum effort. The dBucket also goes a step further by tacking on a far longer delay-time of up to 5 seconds. Tweak the Bucket Loss pot to adjust the filter and set the length as well as the amount of warped, analogue flavour.

A Solid & Complete Delay Pedal

To polish off the controls, Strymon has included a tap-tempo footswitch as well as Time and Repeats control pots and, via the Mode switch, the delay-range can be set while the Mod pot can be dialled up to throw some LFO effects into the mix. Next to all of that, you get both mono and stereo input and output options and space for hooking up an external expression pedal before assigning one of the five control pots to it. All-in-all, you're looking at a more-than-solid and more-than-convincing all-rounder of a delay.

Strymon Brigadier dBucket delay
Wrote the following about Strymon Brigadier dBucket delay

Pluspunten:
- Taptempo
- Modes
- Modulation
- Stevige behuizing
- Stereo
- Expression out

Minpunten:
Zijn er niet.

Conclusie: De delay is wat prijzig maar is het meer dan waard.

Wednesday 20 January 2016 By Lizanne

Lots of guitarists out there would love to experiment with an old-school tape echo. You know, those warm, analogue 60s-70s delays, brought about by a tape recorder with all sorts of fascinating controls. Unfortunately, there are no free rides in this world. The price of a (secondhand) tape recorder, if you can find one, is often astronomical, not to mention the costs of the cartridges and maintenance. So, Dunlop launched the EP103 Echoplex.
