General

The Catalinbread Echorec is the resurrection of the legendary Binson Echorec multi-head drum echo. This effect was the driving force behind Pink Floyd's unforgettable performance at the amphitheatre in Pompeii. More explanation shouldn't really be necessary, but this Echorec goes a step further than the original Binson. Not only is the Catalinbread a lot more compact, the effects pedal also offers more functionality. Of particular note is the variable time delay which has now been extended from 300 up to 1000 milliseconds. With the swell control, you can set the number of repetitions from one to infinity. Tone works as an equaliser and goes from dark and fat to bright and thin. You can even adjust the level of the effects with the Mix control for more flexibility.

Echorec: pedal settings

Whether you like subtle echos or something that sounds more like a spaceship landing in your back garden, everything is possible with the Catalinbread Echorec. Finding just the right settings, however, can be a little tricky in the beginning. One tip is to try the pedal on its own through an amplifier with a clean setting first. You can then get to know the pedal best by setting Swell to minimum, and Tone, Delay Time and Mix to 12 o'clock. From this point you can play around on your guitar and try the different settings on the Program select control. The higher the number on the Program Select, the more extensive the effects. Before you know it, you will be immersed in a sea of rhythmic pulses that will inspire you like never before.

Wat een geweldige sound komt er uit dit pedaaltje. Niet zomaar een echo, maar met verschillende ritmische mogelijkheden. Dit omdat het een oude Binson Echorec imiteert die meerdere opname-koppen bevatte. Daarnaast zit er ook een mooie pre-amp in die het geluid wat meer karakter geeft. Eventueel kun je de onderkant openschoven en de pre-amp uitschakelen of juist heel ver opendraaien, zodat je een fuzz erbij hebt. ik vind zelf een klein beetje pre-amp wel wat warmte toevoegen. Tevens is het mogelijk om via een draaipotmeter aan de binnenkant de modulatie van de echo wat meer toe te voegen. Dit kan ik zeker aanraden want daarmee krijg je een hele mooie dromerige echo wat ik nog weinig bij andere echo pedalen zo gehoord hebt.
Eventueel kun je 'm nog als true-bypass instellen, maar dan wordt de echo afgebroken als je het pedaal uitschakelt uiteraard.
Al met al een bijzonder pedaal met een mooie echo.

Ik heb dit pedaaltje paar dagen in bezit en moet zeggen ; geweldige Echo .
er zit alles in van Pink floyd / the Shadows en alles er om heen .
heel mooie lange echo 's tot heerlijke slapback.
voor de echte Shadows fans . Apache zit er in hoor ...
Het is even puzzelen maar dan heb je ook wat .
enig nadeel is dat de mode knop niet inklikt als b.v de Tc electronics .
Dus je draait de knop live snel van je instelling af ..enigste min punt .!!!
Verder toch 5 sterren .hij is wat prijzig maar is made in U.S.A .
Dus echt een aanrader .Ik ben er naast mijn andere Echo"s erg blij mee .

Uitstekende multi head delay. 12 modes met verschillende ritmepatronen. Ingebouwd ook een trimpot om extra db toe te voegen zodat je bij iintrappen zowel een geweldige delay alsook een volumeboost hebt. Niet meer tapdansen bij solo's :-)
Voor Gilmour, U2, rockabilly, rocksolo's, ...

EINDELIJK het echte Binson geluid waar ik al zo lang naar op zoek ben . Alle Shadows-klanken zitten erin , maar dan zonder de hinderlijke bijgeluiden . Een aanrader voor Shadows fans . ? Het is even zoeken en instellen , want voorprogrammeren zit er niet in . Echt een leuke aanwinst .
