Yamaha MG124CXR live mixer
Product no: 9000-0005-3617 Bax Music Warranty: This product comes with a 3-year warranty.

General

A band needs a lot of amplification and a mixing panel to balance everything out. The Yamaha MG124CXR live mixer is ideal for these purposes. You get enough channels for an average-sized band, along with tone control, compressors, built-in effects, high-quality preamps, and much more. The MG124CXR isn't heavy, making it perfect for transport. The “R” in the product number refers to "rack,” and indeed you can (optionally) choose to mount this mixer in a 19-inch rack or flight case, which is super handy for performances!

Functions

There are 12 fixed channels spread over four microphone channels and four stereo channels. You don’t have any influence on the layout, sine the stereo channels 5/6 and 7/8 can also serve as microphone channels. Each channel has high/low equalizers, and the first six channels also have a mid equalizer. There is an AUX send and an effect send on each channel, as well as panning or balance. There are four compressors available on the first four channels, which is really useful for performers who move around a lot. The mixer also has a sub-group where you can send a selection of channels, which is useful, for example, with a drum set that has multiple mics set up.

X marks the effects

The “X” in the product number refers to the built-in effect processor, which contains a total of 16 effects, many of which are diverse types of reverb. Compared to the MG124CR, you do have one less AUX send and return, but in their place you get an effect send and return, so it’s an even trade. Conversely, it saves you from having to cart around an effects unit, so especially in live situations it’s very practical. The effects can also be send to the AUX for wet monitoring, and you can turn them on and off via the optional Yamaha FC5 sustain pedal/function switch-handy for bands and other live situations!
