This five-piece shell set in Platinum Sparkle is part of Tama's Starclassic Performer series. Its shells are made of birch and bubinga, a combination that ensures excellent tonal properties. Bubinga is an African wood type that is on average 53% harder than maple and birch, resulting in a great emphasis on the low end, while the birch provides excellent attack.

Tama Starclassic Performer BB Platinum Sparkle:

The Starclassic Performer Birch Bubinga in Platinum Sparkle, with its smaller toms and 22-inch bass drum, is a typical rock/fusion configuration kit. The toms are 10 and 12 inches in diameter, and are 6.5 and 7 inches deep, respectively. You'll also find one 14 and one 16-inch floor tom. The bass drum does not have a tom mount, instead you'll get two separate tom holders. You can attach these to your cymbal stands, which doesn't just improve the resonance of the toms, but also gives you more freedom to find the perfect set-up for your kit. This aptly named 'virgin bass drum' also provides a more powerful low end.

Furthermore, this Starclassic Performer Birch Bubinga has zinc die-cast hoops, instead of the common triple-flanged hoops. These hoops don't just create a sharper attack and clear highs, but they also allow for more powerful rimshots and, more importantly, they make sure your tuning stays consistent.

Bass drum

The 22-inch bass drum of this Starclassic Performer kit in Platinum Sparkle is equipped with sturdy claw hooks that have a rubber lining. This lining minimises the chance of the hooks damaging your bass drum hoops. Furthermore, the bass drum legs are Air Cushioned, which means that they have a special air chamber that prevents the sound and sustain of your bass drum from disappearing into the ground, while another advantage is that they are shock absorbing.
