De Shure ULXD24 B87A is een digitaal draadloos microfoon-systeem, bestaande uit de BETA 87A condensator-capsule, de ULXD4 ontvanger en de ULXD2 handheld zender. De kwaliteit van de overdracht is indrukwekkend: 24 bit/48 kHz audio, 100 meter bereik en een dynamisch bereik van 120 dB. En dan hebben we het nog niet eens over de 50 Hz - 20 kHz frequentie-respons en supercardioïde opnamekarakteristiek van de kop. De microfoon is daarmee erg geschikt voor de kristalheldere en betrouwbare draadloze versterking van vocalen.

Het verwisselbare BETA 87A-microfoonkapsel van de ULXD-24 is dan wel zeer gevoelig, maar richt zijn aandacht vooral op het onderwerp dat zich recht voor hem bevindt. Door dus het geluid aan de zijkant voor een groot deel buiten te sluiten, wordt de kans op rondzingen en lekken een stuk kleiner. Wind, adem en gerommel met de microfoon zullen daarbij overigens nauwelijks hoorbaar zijn, dankzij het interne plop-scherm en de ingebouwde shockmount.

Verzending zonder storing

Zoals gezegd, verzendt de ULX D 24 het geluid op formidabele wijze. Door de digitale codering is het nu mogelijk om zeer veel audio-informatie te sturen, zonder dat u bang hoeft te zijn dat de ontvanger storende signalen van andere bronnen zal oppikken. Bovendien heeft de microfoon, door zijn grote dynamische bereik, een zeer goede signaal-ruis-verhouding. De batterij-duur is al even positief: u doet met twee AA-batterijen zo'n 11 uur! Al met al een hoog-sensitief en tegelijk krachtig stuk techniek dat de professional niet gauw in de steek zal laten.
