General

The Roland VK-8 is a beautiful combo organ that uses the same Virtual ToneWheel technology as its big brother, the VK-77, which provides it with a full, warm and rich organ sound. The 61-key Waterfall keyboard has a nice feel to it and the soft keys provide just enough resistance to create traditional organ effects, such as glissandos. The nine harmonic bars and the ToneWheel switch allow you to easily adjust the organ tones. Roland's VK-8 features a number of additional tones and its various connectors allow you to plug in external controllers.

The sound of the VK-8

The organ tones of the Roland VK-8 can be quickly and accurately adjusted by means of the simple controllers on the control panel. In addition to the traditional controllers, the control panel also allows you to apply effects (chorus and reverb) to set splits and to operate the D-Beam controller. The latter can be used to create effects, like tone wheel motor stops or the shock sound of spring reverb, by moving your hand over the infrared light beam. In addition to its organ tones, the Roland VK-8 also offers a number of other instruments, such as electric and acoustic pianos, strings, brass, jazz scat voices, a choir and a synth lead.

Ultimate connection

The MIDI inputs of the Roland VK-8 enable you to connect an external MIDI keyboard or an optional PK-7 pedalboard. This allows you to play bass with your feet, while your hands busy themselves with the chords and the melody. Connectors for expression, sustain and control pedals can be found at the rear of the VK-8.
