General
Both the line and microphone inputs and the USB port of the SP-555 enable you to sample great or interesting sounds at any given time. This quick and flexible approach is just what modern-day DJs and live musicians need. The SP-555 supports CompactFlash cards with a capacity of up to 2 GB (amounting to 12 hours of music, etc.), which do not even have to be loaded. Please note: CF cards of up to 2 GB are no longer manufactured.
Thanks to the innovative functionality of this sampler, you can sample the incoming audio signals or your performance, loop them and immediately use them in combination with other sources at the appropriate tempo. If you like, you can add effects to your loops and assign them to a pad. It is even possible to add various audio layers to your loops.
The SP-555 has all the required effects (37 types) to provide any type of audio with a spicy effect flavour or to completely turn its sound upside down. Among the most remarkable effects are the 'Voice Transformer', 'Delay', 'Isolator', 'Super Filter' and 'DJFX Looper'. The SP-555 enables you to store your own effect settings and to access them at any given moment via the pads.
Thanks to the D-Beam controller and the V-LINK functionality, you can wow your audience not only with your audio-technical prowess, but with your performance as well. Move your hands over the invisible D Beam to adjust the filter opening, to trigger samples or to play actual synthesizer solos. Connect a V-LINK compatible device to add videos, photos, etc. to your show.
The SP-555 can be controlled via its own control panel or by means of a computer. It can even serve as an audio interface for the included Cakewalk SONAR LE software, or for any other DAW or DJ software on your computer. With the included Wave Converter software it is possible to import WAV and AIFF files and to store them on a CF card, so you can use them with the SP-555 (a CF reader is required, of course).
