We got this gem as a trade-in. It's a 2007 PRS Standard 24, but not just any Standard 24. This guitar is a special model from PRS' Satin series and is characterised by an extra thin lacquer - so thin, in fact, that you can still feel the grain of the wood - and luxury Birds inlays in the fretboard. This particular guitar has a Charcoal finish. It is a second-hand guitar with minor signs of being used before - a small dent here and there, but technically it's 100% sound. It comes with the original case, paperwork and accessories. It is a genuine American Paul Reed Smith guitar at a very reasonable price!
PRS Standard 24 Satin Charcoal: unique features
The PRS Standard is the electric guitar as Paul Reed Smith originally intended it. It has a mahogany body and a set-in mahogany neck, just like the classics from the fifties. The result is a warmer, sweeter tone than that of the PRS Custom for instance, as that guitar has a maple top. Moreover, the thin lacquer allows the wood to breathe more, resulting in better resonance and a more open tone. Also, like the more expensive models, the top of the Standard is beautifully arched and its fretboard sports the original abalone Birds inlays.
Hardware and electronics
This version of the PRS Standard 24 Satin features a PRS tremolo bridge that allows you to create subtle or extreme vibrato effects without jeopardising the guitar's tuning (also thanks to the graphite string nut and PRS locking tuners). Additionally, it's armed with a Vintage Bass humbucker at the neck -for a warm sound that is perfect for rock and jazz - and a powerful HFS Treble at the bridge for a perfect balance between aggressively clear trebles, rich mids and great bass sounds. What's more, you can further expand on the tonal palette by using the coil-tap function in the tone knob for sparkling single-coil sounds.
