General
The Novation Launchpad S is an intuitive MIDI controller and builds on the success of the popular Novation Launchpad. The Launchpad S has even brighter buttons and an even higher refresh rate than the Launchpad. This plug-and-play device works seamlessly with all imaginable MIDI software for PC or Mac. The separately sold Camera Connection Kit even allows you to connect it effortlessly to your iPad!
The grid
Just as with the Launchpad, the central element of the Launchpad S is the 64-button grid. The buttons can take on various colours, making it easy to identify what you are doing in the grid of the accessory Ableton Live Launchpad Edition or your own DAW. You will be able to play and edit loops and effects easily, control your mixer and much more!
Complete package
The handy lightweight Launchpad S is USB-powered. Just connect it to your computer or laptop and you are good to go! The controller is delivered including Ableton software, the classic Bass Station mono-synth and Loopmasters sample package, consisting of 1 GB of loops.
For use in combination with your iPad, you need only download the Launchpad iPad app. Whether you are a starting or experienced DJ, this Novation product allows you to make music like never before!

De pluspunten :
Staat stevig op de ondergrond dankzij de 4 antieslip plaatjes aan de onderkant.
Bediening via de te downloaden software Ableton is simpel en duidelijk
Indrukken van de pads voelt goed aan.
Launchpad S simpel aan te melden in de instellingen van Ableton Lite
Simpel de helderheid van de leds in de pads aan te passen
Door even de tijd te nemen om de gebruiksaanwijzing te lezen bedien je alle functies in een uur.
Ik heb slechts een minpunt en dat is dat de handboeken van Ableton Lite niet erg duidelijk zijn hoe je in de software van hun een nieuw project maakt, De lite versie laad altijd bij opstarten een demo project. Volgens de handleiding ctrl+N moet je een nieuw project kunnen maken echter dat gebeurt niet. Ik verwijder voorgaande project door per kanaal te verwijderen en dan mijn eigen samples op dat kanaal te zetten. Vergeet niet om je project in een nieuwe map op je harde schijf weg te schrijven anders wordt voorgaand project overschreven!
Het is al heel vaak geschreven hier op de website van Bax maar ik zeg het nogmaals, Bax jullie zijn super, zaterdag besteld en zondag in huis!

De Launchpad S is zeker aan te raden ten opzichte van de normale Launchpad! Hij reageert snel (vooral in combinatie met USB 3.0) de kleuren zijn mooi fel en onderop zitten een soort anti slip strips zodat hij veilig op je bureau staat. Het enige jammere is dat de knoppen een beetje stroef gaan als je ze indrukt, of dit veranderd in de loop van tijd weet ik niet aangezien ik hem niet heel vaak gebruik.
Ook is het jammer dat je een trial van Ableton krijgt en dit houd in dat je niet kan opnemen of projecten kan opslaan, wil je dit wel dan moet je het volledige programma betalen.
Maar buiten dit is er weer de perfecte levering van Bax-Shop zoals gewend! Snelle levering en meestal krijg je er ook nog wat van Bax-Shop zelf bij zoals een pen (altijd leuk!)
De 64 pads zorgen dat je tot 4 soundbanks naast elkaar (2 drumkits en 2 samplekits met vocals en sferische geluiden bijvoorbeeld) kan opladen wat tijdens het maken van muziek voor een totaal nieuwe workflow zorgt. Dit in tegenstelling tot de MPD waarbij je telkens een nieuwe bank moet laden om dit te kunnen doen (natuurlijk hangt het allemaal af van je persoonlijke voorkeur).
Er bestaat ook een emulator/mapping die je launchpad laat reageren zoals Ableton Push (scale playing, drummachine etc.).

+Eenvoudige controle over je live performance
-Geen velocity op de pads
-Geen faders/knobs wat wel fijn kan zijn om effecten toe te voegen

Erg tevreden over de werking van het product. Knoppen reageren goed en het gebruiksgemak is hoog.
Op het begin is het even zoeken naar de verschillende functies, maar met behulp van de meegeleverde tutorials van Novation is het goed te doen.
