General

With the S-5514GL-PBR Legend, Gretsch have developed a snare drum with an exceptionally clear tone. Its unique sound and long sustain are made possible by a 1mm brass shell and lightweight 2.3mm triple-flanged hoops. Play loudly, and the S-5514GL-PBR provides you with an optimal tone. Play with less dynamics, and the snare drum delivers a more articulated sound.

Lightweight hoops for a clear tone

Instead of regular hoops, the S-5514GL-PBR features triple-flanged hoops, which are lighter of weight and allow the snare to resonate more. They are also more flexible, which allows for a perfect fit with shell and drumhead.

Evans drumheads for an optimal sound

An adjustable throw-off enables you to set your snares to either dull or sharp with one simple movement. The snare shell is equipped with a transparent lacquer finish, so dirt and fingerprints can easily be wiped off with a soft cloth and won't cause permanent stains. The snare drum is supplied with single-ply Evans drumheads: a rough white batter head and a transparent resonant head.

That the Gretsch G9500 Jim Dandy is still as popular as ever is no surprise. It's a lovely, attractively priced parlour-style guitar that makes you think of the early Delta Blues. An instrument like this really doesn't need to be changed. Gretsch do bring out limited editions of this model in different colours every now and then however, just like this G9500 Jim Dandy Barn Wood Burst.
