General

Fender Blacktop series instruments are characterised by their rugged black pickguards, black pickups and black knobs. Also, they provide a unique twist to the traditional Fender designs. This Blacktop Jazz Bass has undergone a complete make over compared to the traditional J-Bass. Its two single-coil pickups have made way for a couple of split single-coil Precision Bass pickups. Fender opted for a chic White Chrome Pearl finish, a white colour with a magnificent metallic glow.

Blacktop Jazz Bass: classic features with a unique twist

This Blacktop Jazz Bass has some of the distinctive J-Bass features such as a comfortably narrow maple neck and the characteristic asymmetrical alder body. Also, the traditional control knobs have remained unaltered, providing each pickup with its own volume control and featuring a master tone knob to filter out high frequencies. But that is where the similarities end because the double split-coil P-Bass pickups offer you an entirely new perspective to the Jazz Bass sound as they are more powerful (yet quieter) and produce more punch. All in all, this guitar features a wide range of new sounds with the easy-to-use, trusted controls.

Fit for modern bass players

In addition to its classic shape and alternative pickups, the Blacktop Jazz Bass also has several modern features. For instance, its vintage-style bridge has been replaced by a High Mass bridge with four individually adjustable saddles. The bridge is extra big, providing a fuller tone and longer sustain. The neck has a rosewood fretboard with 20 medium jumbo frets and a 9.5-inch radius allowing for a lower string action, providing this bass with an even smoother feel.
