General

The Fender Jazz bass is, and always will be, a milestone in music history. Throughout the years, the Jazz Bass has been the subject of many improvements and modifications but that doesn't necessarily mean that the current Jazz Bass is the best, of course. Besides, the number of vintage fans is ever growing, and for that reason Fender makes the American Vintage series. The company takes building vintage models to whole new levels of detail as even the tools and lacquers of the period have emerged from the woodwork. This Fender American Vintage '74 Jazz Bass is a worthy successor to the throne of the American Vintage series.

Fender American Vintage '74 Jazz Bass: new, but with an old soul

This guitar isn't just a fake-worn relic version, it is accurately modelled after a 1974 Fender Jazz Bass. 1974 was the year that the neck of the Jazz Bass gained a few ounces and begot a U profile for better grip. Not long before, the bridge pickup had already been moved closer to the bridge, altering the tone. From 1974 onwards, pearloid block inlays were fitted in the fretboard. This American Vintage version has all of these features, as well as a black finish and a white pickguard. The alder body is light of weight, very durable and perfect for providing tonal bass and treble wealth.

Vintage all the way

Every single component of the Fender American Vintage '74 Jazz Bass is vintage styled. Its two single-coil pickups were specially designed and voiced for this guitar with true-to-form positioning. A chrome-plated bridge cover and hand rest above the second pickup make the whole guitar look very striking. It even features a thumb rest. Black volume and tone controls allow you to take the tone into the right direction. All that's left is composing a contemporary set list. Tips: Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton and the Jackson 5.
