De PLM 8.4 FX heeft acht ingangskanalen en, zoals de naam al verklapt, een ingebouwde effect unit. Met alle benodigde functies aan boord zoals driebands equalizer per kanaal, Aux send en return, gebalanceerde master uitgangen en fantoom voeding is de PLM 8.4 FX een zeer gebruiksvriendelijke mixer. De ingebouwde effect unit heeft zestien standaard effecten en een effect Send en Return zodat de unit uitgebreid kan worden met een externe effect machine.
