It makes sense to offer popular synths in rack versions, and that's why the Nord Lead A1 - the streamlined version of the Nord Lead 4 - is now available in this rack version! The Nord Lead A1R is a virtual analogue synth with a sleek, powerful interface. It features 24-voice polyphony, and impressive patches are also possible. Moreover, the A1R is 4-part multitimbral. Of course, this red synth was made by hand in Sweden, so you can be sure of excellent quality and artisanship.

Nord Lead A1R: Like, so cool

The new Like button is a unique feature that makes it possible to 'like' up to 50 versions of a patch you design, so you have plenty of choices when you finally go to save the patch. This makes it much easier to find that one special sound amongst a forest of sound parameters. Furthermore, the A1R features Mutator and Randomise functions, which generate completely new patches from different variations of an existing patch by randomising the parameters.

Synth parameters

True sound smiths can get to work with the many hands-on dials, meaning that Pitch, Detune, Shape, Sync, AM, Noise, Dual Osc and FM can be tweaked in real time. The Oscillator section has been revised and the Modulation Envelope has been simplified. The A1R can be used on a table top or in a rack, and you can connect to computers via the USB-MIDI output. Finally, the Nord patch librarian makes it keeping track of the presets a piece of cake. So there you have it, a state-of-the-art Swedish power synth in a nice, compact model!

Wat een waanzinnig apparaat. Dit is mijn eerste apparaat van Nord. Dit is de synthesizer met het grootste bedieningsgemaak die ik ooit in mijn bezit heb gehad. Hij is niet goedkoop, maar je krijgt echt waar voor je geld. De nordlead A1r heeft de kwaliteit van een volvo, hij is gebouwd als een tank. En het geluid is wawaanzinnig goed. Echt een aanrader.

Pour terminer (excusez-moi erreur de manip mon commentaire ne s'est pas achever), le seul bémol est qu'on ne voit pas le nom de ses patches et de ses performances sauf en passant par l'utilitaire.
Cela n'est pas grave en sois mais je trouve plus élégant de dire par exemple j'ai utilisé le patch "Deep Forest" plutôt que le patch B14 .... Bref c'est une question de point de vue ;)

Couvrant une large palette sonore allant du bon gros son vintage, aux sons de cloches ou minimalistes très synthétiques, cet engin peut tout faire!!

Parlons tout d'abord de son aspect extérieur, sous sa jolie jupe rouge, c'est un coffret en métal assez léger comportant une flopée de potentiomètres qui semblent assez fragiles lors d'une première manipulation mais je vous assure qu'il n'en n'est rien. C'est du Nord, c'est du solide, c'est construit pour durer!

L'édition semble assez basique, une fois le manuel lu et relus, un débutant peut en faire ce qu'il lui chante, le A1 est un brave toutou qui obéi au doigt et à l'oeil, encore faut t-il savoir a quoi sert tel ou tel potentiomètre, mais la prise en mains est rapide.
Toujours au niveau de l'édition, les paramètres, bien qu'un peu moindre que sur le Lead4, n'en restent pas moins étanche à tout les styles musicaux!!
Nappes profondes, leads West Coasts, FX très spéciaux ou encore basses analogues type 70'S, le moteur Virtual Analogue est une perle sonore!
Les boutons Randoms et Like permettent aussi de se faciliter la tâche et l'éditeur fourni sur le site officiel est d'excellente facture!!

Un gros plus également pour l'upgrade de l'OS (qui se télécharge sur le site web du constructeur), qui s'installe directement via un fichier EXE sur PC. En gros on branche le A1r en USB et on lance l'EXE et HOP c'est fait !!!

Sur le site officiel de NORD on peut y trouver diverses banques de sons, et Performances de divers artistes (des Bundles).
Le A1 disposes d'une BANK 8 (espace libre) pour créer ses propres patches ou les importés, et 50 espaces "libres" pour les performances.
Pour en revenir à l'utilitaire, il permet donc de remplir les 8 BANKS avec les patches et les 350 performances de son choix et de revenir aux sons d'usine quand on le désire via les BUNDLES FACTORIES (pour les banks 1 à 8 et les performances) téléchargeable sur le site du constructeur !!
