General

Digital pianos are becoming increasingly modern. Take a look at Casio's CGP-700, for example, which boasts a touch-sensitive colour display, making it that much easier to select a sound and a rhythm. This intuitive means of control is a real benefit, as its incredibly versatile range of sounds and rhythms is what sets the CGP-700 apart from other digital pianos in the first place. It's so pleasant to work with, you might even compare it to a keyboard in a digital piano housing.

Characteristics of the Casio CGP-700

Of course a digital piano shouldn't just be user-friendly, you want it to sound good too. To that end, Casio has equipped the CGP-700 with six speakers, two of which are located in the stand. The instrument offers an outstanding grand piano sound, and its keys have a realistic, simulated ebony (black keys) and ivory (white keys) finish. Besides its grand piano, the CGP-700 allows you to choose from hundreds of different sounds from various instrument groups. Combine them with the digital piano's impressive rhythm section, and you'll be able to play any pop song. You can even take the CGP-700 with you for gigs - simply detach it from its stand, and it turns into a practical stage piano.

Music lessons

Piano lessons run along smoothly with this CGP. It's possible to split the keyboard in two, creating two identical halves, so your piano teacher can play you an example without the two of you having to switch seats. The piano's two headphone outputs - one for you, one for your teacher - can also come in handy, as they allow your family or flatmates to enjoy their favourite TV show while you're learning how to play. Recording a piece of music is also an option, and you can connect the CGP-700 to your computer via USB. Whether you're a beginner or a more experienced player, this Casio digital piano provides you with a comprehensive set of features in a practical housing.

NAMM 2016: Casio MZ-X: A New MZ-2000?

Monday 11 January 2016

The image below recently turned up on the internet. Based on the text and the accompanying specifications, we assume that Casio is trying to lure us to their NAMM booth so they can present their latest keyboard/synthesizer: the MZ-X. This will likely remind keyboard enthusiasts of the MZ-2000, an old Casio model that, considering the words 'Reinvented, Reimagined, Reborn' is apparently about to be brought back to life. Rumour has it that two models will be released, the MZ-500 and the MZ-1000, but take that with a grain of salt; it's very possible that MZ-X is indeed the final name for this workstation.
