General

Choosing the right amp for you and your style can be a tricky process. What's important? Intonation? Effects? Extras? Price? Behringer is clearly of the opinion that all of those points are important, and they show it with the VT100FXH guitar amplifier head. It is virtually the same as the VT100FX, except that it functions as an amp head for your half stack.

Sound

We'll start with the most important thing: the sound. Of course, that classic tube sound is always going to be the holy grail when it comes to amps, though it's not practical when you're looking for a compact, lightweight practice amplifier. That's why Behringer has equipped the VT100FXH with their original VTC (Virtual Tube Technology), which digitally emulates that classic, warm tube sound.

Of course, sometimes you want a straightforward clean sound, and that's why the VT100FXH provides two channels: clean and overdrive. The names speak for themselves really, and they're great because they give you control over your sound. An added bonus with both the VT100FXH and the VT100FX is each channel has two modes. The clean channel offers clean or crunch and the overdrive channel offers two different overdrive modes.

Effects

Behringer didn't stop there though! The VT100FXH also features a 24-bit digital effects processor, so you can do more with your sound and get the kind of versatility you're looking for. The processor offers 16 effects, comprised of four different kinds of reverb, chorus, flanger and delay.

Functionality

Behringer's motto is “double the features and half the price”, and they've certainly illustrated that with the VT100FXH. Plenty of connections are provided so you can get the most out of this bargain, including a headphone/line out jack for practising in silence. The same jack can also be used to connect to a mixer or to another amp, so you can make use of the effects processor in combination with another device. A CD input is also available so you can connect your audio devices and play along with your favourites. Furthermore, you'll find FX send and FX return connections on the rear panel, which allow you to work with external effects units.

All of these features can be adjusted from the well-organized control panel, which keeps it easy and basic so you can focus on the music. The only thing left to do is take one home and try it out for yourself!

Behringer Virtube VT100FXH guitar amplifier head
Wrote the following about Behringer Virtube VT100FXH guitar amplifier head
