General

If you ask people who are using the GTX60 what they think of it, they'll tell you that it “packs a punch”, that it's “a good amp at a good price,” and that “back in the day, an amp with these kinds of features would have been astounding”. You don't have to take their word for it though, we'll tell you why the reviews are so positive:

Sound

When you're looking for a new amp, sound is definitely the most important factor. Many guitarists really want that warm, classic tube amp sound, but that's not very practical when you're looking for a portable practice amplifier. As such, Behringer has equipped the VT15FX with their original VTC (Virtual Tube Technology), which digitally emulates the tube sound. This way you can reap the rewards of the tube sound without dealing with the disadvantages of added weight, higher power usage and sensitive microphonics.

You also get two channels with the GTX60: clean and overdrive. The clean channel features dials for controlling the volume, bass and treble, making it an excellent choice if you're practising scales or riffs and just want the pure sound of your guitar at its clearest and more precise. The overdrive channel has an LED indicator that lets you know when its on, and gives you the option of adjusting the gain, bass, contour, treble and volume. This is great for really developing a personalised sound, and for changing your style for different tunes or genres.

Effects

Behringer took it all a step further and equipped the GTX60 with a 24-bit digital effects processor, so you can do even more with your sound. The processor offers 16 effects, comprised of four different kinds of reverb, chorus, flanger and delay. Plus, all of that is going to be coming out of the hand-crafted 12-inch Bugera speaker, so your 60-watt sound is always full and bold.

Functionality

Behringer's motto is “double the features and half the price”, and they've certainly illustrated that with the GTX60. Plenty of connections are provided so you can get the most out of this bargain, including a headphone/line out jack for practising in silence. The same jack can also be used to connect to a mixer or to another amp, so you can make use of the effects processor in combination with another device. Furthermore, you'll find FX send and FX return connections on the rear panel, which allow you to work with external effects units.

A CD input makes it possible to connect your audio devices so you can play along with your favourites. And if that wasn't enough, you can also make use of the built-in chromatic tuner for quickly adjusting your guitar before and during sessions!

All of these features can be adjusted from the well-organized control panel, which keeps it easy and basic so you can focus on the music. The only thing left to do is take one home and try it out for yourself!
