General

If you need to quickly switch a digital signal to analogue, or vice versa, then the ADA8000 will do the trick! This digital converter is easy to use and fits perfectly in a single rack unit. The integrated A/D and D/A converters ensure an optimal signal conversion without noise or signal loss.

The ADA8000 is an 8-channel A/D (analogue to digital) and D/A converter with eight built-in IMP (Invisible Microphone Preamp) microphone preamplifiers. With this device, you can plug in your favourite microphones (the ADA8000 contains +48V phantom power for studio-grade condenser microphones) and record directly to your multitrack or computer-based recorder, thanks to the built-in ADAT interface. Moreover, the ADA8000 can also be used to transfer digital signals from sound cards and other multitrack devices back to analogue audio.

Signal conversion in the ADA8000 takes place at 44.1 or 48 kHz, with a 24-bit resolution. The ADAT inputs and outputs work independently as long as there is an identical wordclock signal, and you can enjoy a broad frequency range of 10 Hz to 21 kHz at a sample rate of 48 kHz.

There are connectors available for balanced XLR and 6.3mm TRS jack plugs as well as unbalanced 6.3mm TS jack inputs. Line-out connectors provide a balanced or unbalanced connection. Finally, the Digital I/O is taken care of by the Toslink optical connector, which can support up to eight data channels.

Ik gebruik hem als extra line inputs voor synths, en daarin voldoet hij perfect!

Het enige minpuntje is de selectie van de sample rate aan de achterkant, bij mij zit hij onder het patchpay in een rack gebouwd. Daarmee geef ik al aan dat ik mijn geluidskaart (focusrite pro 40) als slave gebruik.

De preamps vind ik slechter dan de focusrites, maar dat had ik ook niet verwacht voor de prijs. De line-ins klinken gelijkwaardig naar mijn mening.

Handig vind ik de line inputs aan de voorkant in mijn setup, makkelijk prikken met het patchbay erboven.

Ik ken geen alternatief voor deze prijs, dus echt een aanrader, maar net geen 5 sterren vanwege de sample rate keuze aan de achterkant.

Gekocht als uitbreiding module voor een DDX3216 mengtafel van behringer, de Pre amps zijn in orde voor live gebruik maar in de studio toch licht ondermaats waar je kwalitatieve opnames wilt doen, voor een drumopname of dergelijke geen probleem maar vocaal, akoustische instrumenten ed. hoor je dat ze niet heel detailrijk zijn. Verder geen problemen te melden, werkt perfect,iets meer ledjes voor het ingangssignaal had handig geweest. verder heb ik niets te klagen, prima toestel voor zijn prijs.

Wrote the following about Behringer ADA 8000 Ultragain Pro-8 digital converter

Ik heb hem nog niet binnen, maar ik heb al eerder met de ADA8000 gewerkt. De pre amps zijn redelijk goed maar missen iets aan detail dat ik wel hoor op de monitors. Daar ik de pre amps niet ga gebruiken, ik wil gewoon 8 uitgangen vanuit mijn PC via ADAT naar mijn Roland VS recorder sturen, en is de ADA8000 geknipt voor de taak. Wat Bang for the buck betreft krijgt deze machine een "Eight out of Ten" van mij en ook al heeft Behringer een slechte rep bij pro en semi pro muzikanten, deze machine is degelijk gebouwd. Ik heb al te maken gehad met DOA spul van Behringer, zoals mijn BCD-2000, maar de pickup service is echt goed, dus binnen vijf tot tien dagen een nieuw apparaat.

Daarnaast krijg je de ADA8000 in Nederland en Duitsland nergens goedkoper dan bij Bax, scheelt wel even 50 Euro oftewel een integer avondje stappen... ;-)
