General

Whether you own an iPad, an iPad 2, or a 3rd or 4th generation iPad, with a little help from this complete Alesis iO Dock II you can easily connect microphones or instruments and make professional recordings. Simply slide your tablet into the dock and you're good to go! Thanks to two combined XLR/jack inputs with switchable phantom power you're able to connect microphones (both dynamic and condenser) as well as devices with a line output. One of the two inputs can even serve as a guitar input.

Recording with the iO Dock II

Once you have placed your iPad in the iO Dock 2 and connected your microphones or instruments, you are ready to start recording, using nearly any type of regular Core Audio app. Professional 24-bit converters ensure top-notch conversions from analogue to digital. The side of the iO Dock II is fitted with a headphone output, while a set of monitor speakers can be connected at the rear. The volume for these outputs can be controlled independently. Use the direct monitoring option to hear your own performance without any delay.

MIDI and foot switch

The iO Dock 2 features a number of great extras. The left side is equipped with a classic MIDI input and output, as well as a USB MIDI output, which means you can send/receive MIDI information to/from external MIDI devices (such as a MIDI keyboard of sound module) or a computer. It is also possible to connect a one or two-button foot switch to the iPad dock, assignable to functions in your sequencer or virtual instruments, for instance.
