Ik heb de EWI 4000s drie weken geleden gekocht. Het is een fantastisch instrument met heel veel mogelijkheden. Het bespelen valt me 100% mee. Op youtube kun je veel informatie vinden in de vorm van tutorials en handleidingen.

Ook zeer tevreden ben ik over de levering van Bax-shop. Zoals altijd prima op tijd en in perfecte staat. Ook de prijs is bij Bax heel voordelig, want die verschillen nog al op internet.

De EWI 4000 is een prachtig apparaat. Technisch gezien is het een robuust instrument met tal van knopjes, in- en uitgangen en toetsen. Ik heb hem gekocht om mijn saxofoon licks en arpeggios te kunnen oefenen. Ondanks de vingerzetting die op "sax" te zetten is vergt het bespelen van het instrument mij wel heel veel training. Verder krijg je het apparaat erg kaal. Er zitten batterijen bij, maar geen netwerkadapter. De manual is uiterst technisch en spartaans (grootste deel is in aziatisch schrift) en tot slot zit er nog een CD bij. Om de eerste geluiden te horen dien je een koptelefoon aan te sluiten. Voor verdere instructies raad ik je aan op Youtube te kijken. Hier geeft een enthousiaste Engelsman heel duidelijke instructies over wat je met het apparaat kan.
Ik heb ook nog de USB versie overwogen. Ik vond het echter belangrijk om snoerloos en zonder PC (op reis) te kunnen oefenen. Ik moet ook nog op zoek naar een goede beschermhoes voor het geval ik ermee op stap ga.
Wat ik tot slot jammer vind, is dat er (nog) geen goeie dummy manual is waarmee een muzikant makkelijk op weg kan. Op zich zou het apparaat een goed instap-instrument kunnen zijn voor mensen/kinderen die overwegen (of twijfelen) of ze saxofoon, klarinet of fluit willen spelen. De embouchure (mond) is eenvoudig en het bespelen is veel makkelijker dan de eerder genoemde instrumenten. Het ontbreekt dan echter nog wel aan EWI docenten.

After they launched the LPD8 and the LPK25, Akai developed wireless versions of both these controllers, namely the AKAI LPD8 Wireless USB MIDI controller and the AKAI LPK25 Wireless USB MIDI keyboard.
