Live 7 LE biedt u een eenvoudige interface met professionele mogelijkheden voor recording, songwriting, remixing en DJ'ing. Live 7 LE heeft 2 main views, de Session View en de Arrangement View. De Session View functioneert als een musical sketch en als launch pad voor uw live toepassingen. Deze functie daagt u uit om nieuwe ideeën uit te proberen en te improviseren. De Arrangement View biedt u een timeline-based sequencer voor traditionele recording, MIDI sequencing, arrangering, editing en andere muzikale taken.
Aangezien de gemiddelde student een niet al te groot budget heeft biedt Ableton dit studentenpakket aan. Dit omdat de student van tegenwoordig een grote en belangrijke doelgroep is voor deze fabrikant van software. Dit pakket is dus alleen te koop op vertoon van een studentenpas.
