De Neo PreAmp is een kleine tweekanaals-instrument- en microfoon-voorversterker Hij heeft twee gecombineerde XLR- en jack-ingangen. Bij gebruik van de instrumentjacks wordt Hi-Z ondersteund. Beide kanalen zijn voorzien van een 48v fantoomvoeding en een volumeregeling. Door zijn lage signaal/ruis-verhouding is het een goede toevoeging voor studio’s en producers.

Deze preamp van Icon laat ik gewoon doorlopen naar mijn UCA222 (een Behringer interface, ook verkrijgbaar op deze site) en mijn vocals klinken een stuk luider en leuker. Ik hoef ze niet meer luider te maken met een limiter, en krijg dus een veel beter resultaat.
Ook mijn gitaar klinkt een stuk beter. Ik kan de gain nu veel minder draaien en toch nog goed hoorbaar zijn.
Het apparaat heeft twee ingangen met een multistekker, geschikt voor zowel jack als XLR, dus werkt ie zowel voor gitaar als voor micro.
Ik zou iedereen aanraden om de combinatie UCA222 en deze preamp uit te proberen als je op zoek bent naar een goedkope doch kwaliteitsvolle manier om je muziek op je computer op te nemen.
Het is verder een heel compact kastje, met rubberen poten die tot op de bovenkant doorlopen, waardoor er meerdere op elkaar gestapeld kunnen worden. Ondanks zijn kleine formaat, bevat hij:

Per voorversterker inschakelbare fantoom spanning. (knop wordt verlicht wanneer ingeschakeld, voor condensator mics)
Elke voorversterker heeft natuurlijk zijn eigen gaincontrol en dB ledbar.
Ik sta ook te kijken van de geluidskwaliteit, vele malen beter dan die plastic behringer dingen of sm audio. (beide ook ervaring mee) Ook de mic 2200 van behringer vind ik minder klinken.
Al met al erg weinig geld voor een dergelijk kwalitatief product!
