Microphone preamps are an essential part of any audio recording process. While preamps usually come integrated into audio interfaces, they're also available in standalone form where they can be roughly divided into two categories: transparent-sounding preamps and sonically-coloured preamps. A rough division indeed, because the Black Lion Audio Auteur MK2 actually strikes a happy medium, beautifully balancing clean and coloured sound. Housed in a 1U 19" half-rack module, this pro-grade bit of studio kit features two preamps, phantom power, a 10dB pad switch, phase reverse and, of course, a gain control. Half-rack connector plate included.
