The MXR M306 Poly Blue Box is a highly complete pitch-shifter that sets you up with four octave divisions: -1, -2, +1 and +2. What stands out here is that each octave as well as the dry signal has its own individual volume control so you can blend an endless amount of sounds, and each division is set to polyphonic mode by default to bring out chords in all of their glory. Fleshed out with an expression pedal input, the M306 Poly Blue Box can also be kicked into mono mode to shape a more old-school sound and offer a matching playing experience. A 9V power supply comes included.

The M306 Poly Blue Octave: Optional Fuzz and Modulation

Besides extensive pitch-shifting options, this MXR-made stompbox harbours a wild fuzz effect based on the MXR Blue Box™ Fuzz. Flip it on and make your low notes sound like thunder dropping from a blue sky, or tweak the trebles for a more synth-like sound. The optional modulation differs depending on the selected mode; in poly-mode, you get a Leslie-style effect while, in mono mode, the M306 Poly Blue Octave starts to sound more like the famed Phase 90. In short, this fresh MXR effects pedal is ready for any adventurous tone-chaser.

La MXR Poly Blue Octave pitch shifter est un effet très efficace et convaincant, on peut obtenir différentes textures sonores qui s'étendent d'un effet "orgues" jusqu'au gros son bien fuzzy à la Jack White. La modulation est un plus qui permet d'avoir des sons plus psychédéliques. Le fait de pouvoir combiner jusqu'à 4 octaves est vraiment idéal, on peut aussi jouer avec seulement 1, 2 ou 3 octaves. Chaque effet d'octave est réglable en volume/présence. En plus c'est un switch doux donc pas de bruit quand on l'enclenche. Bref une bonne pédale d'effet très versatile mais aussi très typée. Personnellement, c'est ce que je recherchais et suis donc très satisfait.

Eerste pitchshift pedal (buiten multi effecten met pit h functie). Het bereik van -2, -1, 1, 2 in combinatie met gecontroleerd in de mix brengen van elke stap, zorgt ervoor dat je het totale geluid een balans kan geven op een intuïtieve manier. De modulatie (Rotary bij Poly, faser bij mono) is leuke extra, al merk ik dat ik liever een afzonderlijk effect later in de keten zet hiervoor. De fuzz ben ik nog niet over uit, ik kende de blue box van mxr niet, dus zal wel kwestie van toepassing vinden zijn. Ik de pitchshifter vooraan in de keten gezet, om beste signaal voor correcte pitch te krijgen. Je krijgt er een breed orgel geluid uit, soms beetje glitchy, hiervoor draai ik wat dry signaal in de mix, als ik bijvoorbeeld een bas geluid zoek met alleen de lagere octaven in de mix (op gitaar). Hierdoor wordt geluid meer afgerond en natuurlijker. Tracking gaat voor merendeel goed, foutjes worden m.i. eerder veroorzaakt door onnauwkeurige aanslag of vingerzetting. Op andere instrumenten heb ik het pedaal nog niet ingezet. Expressie pedaal voor modulatie is handig, maar modulatie gebruik ik tot nu toe met mate. Merk overigens dat het pedaal niet zomaar elke voeding slikt (Boss PSA), er zit wel eigen voeding bij.
