General

JBL's STX825 is the perfect speaker to use as a primary PA speaker for places and events that require excellent sound quality at properly high SPLs. The STX series is perfect for those who think a line array would be overdoing it - yet who are looking for a scalable passive system that is easy to transport. You can get the most out of the speakers in this series when you upload presets via DBX processing or use Crown amplification. The duo of 15-inch woofers produces quite a lot of bass - making the STX825 perfect for stand-alone use. However, you can easily expand with STX828S subwoofers if your venue requires something a bit bigger.

Technical details of the STX825 speaker

Combine two STX825 speakers, mix in a proper amplifier and you'll have a straightforward yet powerful PA setup. The two powerful 15-inch woofers keep performing wonderfully thanks to Vented Gap technology, no matter what you throw at them. Additionally, the powerful compression driver for the trebles is more than capable of keeping up with the woofers. Thanks to the bi-amp option, the woofers and compression driver can be amplified separately for a sound that is even better balanced. With the right amplifier, the STX825 is capable of producing a sound pressure level of up to 136 dB.

Rugged lightweight housing

It takes a lot to scratch or damage the rugged housing of the STX825. A poplar-laminated, 13-layer birch plywood construction ensures durability, while scratches are prevented by the black Duraflex lacquer. An industrial-looking, representative grill protects the drivers and is designed for optimal sound transference. Moreover, the back of the grill features acoustic-transparent foam such as not to interfere with the speaker's tonal properties. 12 M10 rigging points enable you to fly the speaker permanently or temporarily, as well as optimise its direction. Overall, this speaker is relatively light, just 51 kilos.

They plan to officially launch this active sub at the 2017 NAMM show next week. It has a cardioid directional pattern at its core which effectively prevents low frequencies from escaping via the rear or sides of the cabinet, resulting in more bass and a higher sound pressure level!
