Over the past few months, a lot of us have been spending more time at home than ever, and whether you love or hate working from home, finding yourself alone and staring at a wall is never going to be fun. Since Summer gigs and festivals are nothing but a distant fever dream right now, why not flip the script and turn your own living room into a venue!
Off the Couch and Onto the Stage!
Not many living rooms are likely to be decked out and ready to put on a gig. Of course, the size of your act will dictate whether or not your sofa needs shifting and, since you'll need to set up a live stream, the backdrop and layout needs to be pretty strategic as well as creative. If your band is lucky enough to be isolating together and you need to set up a full drum kit, maybe laying down a drum mat would be wise. You could even go the distance by using a small lighting setup and a smoke machine to really put on an epic show.
Smooth Jazz or Heavy Metal?
Maybe you live in a flat on the second floor and setting up an entire drum kit is not the most sociable idea. In that case, maybe set your drummer up with some replacement percussion like a cajon or treat them to a set of cymbal and drum mutes. To take it a step further, you might need to swap the electric guitars and amps for some acoustic guitars.
What About the Vocals?
If you're lucky enough to have a fairly big living room or live in a semi-detached house, and want to give the vocal performance of your life accompanied by some self-composed backing tracks, why not look into a simple yet effective portable battery-powered speaker complete with a microphone?
