I agree with all the comments made by another reviewer, Vangelo so I won't repeat them.

Up to now I have relied on two early Zoom pedals - the old but still-popular 505ii and the later G2Nu. I recently thought about upgrading and tried both the Zoom G3n and G5x but felt that they didn't improve much on the G2Nu but just added layers of unnecessary complexity.

My purchase of the MG-20 was almost an on-the-spur-of-the-moment thing, but I'm glad I bought it. The editing system and especially the editing screen are both superbly intuitive and make the Zoom 'screens' look pre-historic. Compared to editing systems used by other makes of pedal, it is genuinely surprising and welcome to see just how intuitive the process can be in practise.

The range and quality of the sounds aren't as extensive as on many other pedals but, let's face it, most multi-FX pedals are stuffed with weirdness and warbles that you never use anyway. The MG-20 makes editing and creating your own effects really easy. That screen display is an EMORMOUS plus. An unusual and very welcome feature is the row of little buttons which you can press to immediately access a noise gate, compression, delay or reverb effect - plus several others. Build quality is extremely good although longevity is something yet to be determined. Only time will tell. Sturdiness is very good. The Mg-20 weighs in at exactly 6lbs so it's no lightweight.

Negatives are as Vangelo mentioned ... there is no customer support and no facility to use anything akin to Zoom's excellent "Edit & Share" software. Until NU>X make a concerted effort to provide customer support around the world and to continue to develop both the effects and some form of internet-based editing systems, I doubt that they will make serious inroads into the world of geuinely affordable multi-FX units. That would be a shame because they really could be contenders and could easily shake up the existing and somewhat complacent Big Names in the field.

Worked my way up to this pedal from NUX PA-1, MG-100 & MG-200. Made in China withwhat I assume is a Chinese design.

This pedal shares alot with the MG-100 & 200 insofar as the colour screen, editing/drums & loopers go.

Of course, being made of metal vs plastic it is heavier & sturdier. The screen is also much bigger.

As far as firmware goes I would say this is the most sorted of the MG pedals. The 200 really needs more work on it as it has a few quirks. The 100 & 20 are better in this regard. The USB out is still not operational though, neither on the 200 or 20. And support for NUX is useless.

Anyway, the main reason I can recommend this pedal (& the other MG's) is for its sound. It has a really unprocessed analogue sound that is just right. A huge catalogue of amps & effects gives so much flexibility. It is also SO easy & intuitive to use it is a real pleasure to explore. The 20 has a built in MP3 player so you can use it to jam along with backing tracks. That is a unique feature, and I can only think of the Line6 JM4 that is similar. Also built in drum patterns & looper.

As far as negatives, I guess dealing with the manufacturers themselves who dont reply to emails, and the non-functioning USB.

One of the reasons I bought of BAX was as least I have their warranty & back-up.

Bonjour,

Your mileage may vary.
