The hulking TC Electronic Plethora X5 adds no less than 127 possible, and completely customisable pedalboards to your rig with five TC TonePrint effects per board. Every effect can be loaded into the Plethora X5 via the free TonePrint app, opening up an enormous library of your very own personalised effects. The app even pairs to the pedal wirelessly via Bluetooth. Even before all of that, this Swiss-army-knife of a multi-effects unit comes pre-loaded with a mass of boards ready to add a rainbow of flavours to any beginner's setup.
The Plethora X5 with MASH
The Danish team at TC Electronic have equipped the Plethora X5 with a set of five MASH footswitches. Each switch controls up to three parameters of a single effect in real-time, so you can easily perform volume swells or invoke extreme modulation with one switch, opening up multiple dimensions in your sound. For specific delay effects, the assigned switch can operate as a tap-tempo and an external expression pedal can be connected for even more control.
Outstanding Quality
Since this unit is made by TC Electronic, the Plethora X5 can be integrated into any live or studio setup with ease. A stereo input and output is included and offers more than enough headroom so that each effect gets all the space it needs; a MIDI IN and THRU is provided for applicable external gear, and an FX-loop can be used to hook up any existing stompboxes. The much-loved four-cable option is also available, so that you can decide for yourself which effect sits where in the chain. Meanwhile, every parameter and effect detail is displayed on five corresponding LCD screens while a comprehensive set of tonal controls dial in the final result.

Let op: er zitten geen drives, distortions of fuzz in de Plethora. Het idee is dat veel gitaristen en bassisten een specifieke smaak hebben wbt. dirt en vaak al voorzien zijn wbt. deze pedalen. Dit pedaal is dus voor modulatie, delays etc. Eigenlijk alles wat je nodig hebt zit er in (ook een looper!). Updates van TC komen om de zoveel tijd, zou vaker mogen, maar ze hebben wel bevestigd hier mee door te gaan.
Er is eigenlijk geen manual, maar het zit zo eenvoudig in elkaar, die heb je eigenlijk ook niet nodig. Mocht je iets niet weten is er op Youtube genoeg te vinden.
Enige minpunt: de tuner werkt niet op de laagste snaren van een basgitaar.
dus ik direct gekocht maar had blijkbaar niet goed gelezen en Reviews waren hier nog niet te lezen!
Bij het uittesten kwam ik tot conclusie dat er een aantal effecten ontbreken in de Pedalboard,
als bassist heb je niet veel effecten nodig maar miste toch de distortion en/of een overdrive.
Het is niet de bedoeling dat ik nog een distortion ernaast ga plaatsen dat je met fx loop kan sturen, en nog een voeding kabeltje erbij, ik heb graag alles in één box. Jammer want vind dit een prachtige Pedalboard niet teveel ditje en datjes erop, geen cap,
geen preamps gewoon de effecten in één box, daarom geef ik deze 4 sterren voor het product!
Ik denk niet dat bij de volgende updates enkele effecten ga bijkomen, laat ons hopen, alhoewel ze al een eerste update hebben voor de tuner. Een boekje met wat uitleg mis je wel, en de uitleg voor een update uit te voeren zou ook handig zijn!
Bediening is super en eenvoudig na beetje zoekwerk!
En nu? Met pijn in het hart ga ik deze terug sturen!
Hopelijk komen er later effecten bij, dan zou ik deze terug aanschaffen
maar ga voorlopig verder doen met mijn oudere Pedalboard.
