Aardig klinkende analoge chorus, met een duidelijke focus op het mid-gebied. Maar waar een Boss CE-2 of Mooer Ensemble King dat ook doen op een smeuïge manier, is de Valeton Aquaflow toch wat nasaler.

In diverse shoot-outs met 3 andere analoge chorus-pedalen, viel het me op dat de Aquaflow ook hoorbaar 'verslankend' werkt op je sound; m.a.w. hij snoept best wat laag weg. Nou zit er een Tone knop op, maar die gaat eigenlijk van dof naar dun, dus ik kreeg de gewenste sound er helaas niet uit. Ik had gehoopt dat ie een MXR Analog Chorus zou kunnen vervangen, aangezien de bypass van de MXR hoorbaar 'tonesuck' heeft (wat dan opvalt bij versterkers met een footswitchable FX-Loop), en de Aquaflow netjes true bypass is, maar zonder het diepe laag en het sprankelende(re) hoog, bleek de Aquaflow me iets te nasaal.

6 sterren! Ik was bang dat dit erg 'china' ging klinken en dacht al aan ruilen voordat ik hem had. Niet dus. Op een clean signaal heeft deze chorus een duidelijke subtiele sound die echt veel doet, de parameters zijn dan echt heel goed af te stellen, tot het punt waarop je nogmaals op de onderkant kijkt of er echt china staat.

Bij een 'fuzzy' of lichtere drive wordt het iets minder subtiel, en ook iets moeilijker afstellen, maar nog altijd ruim voldoende. Ik heb gemerkt dat als je een bepaalde sound lekker vindt klinken en dan de de depth en tone een heel klein tikje terugdraaid, dat ie echt perfect klinkt.

Ik wilde in de eerste instantie nooit met een chorus werken, te extreem effect over het algemeen, maar deze heeft me om! Ik had mijn oog eigenlijk op een octaver, waarbij ik mijn gitaar flink wat voller wilde maken zonder de 'volle modder' te benaderen. Zeg maar een onmogelijke taak, maar guess what, dit gekke ding heeft precies wat ik zoek, en dan nog wat 'rotor' erbovenop door de speed knop te regelen. Kwaliteit van het pedaal is vergelijkbaar met mooer. Hierin zal ie zich in de toekomst bewijzen. Al met al meer dan het geld waard en een leuke sound. Bedenk dat je voor onder de 5 tientjes bijna niks goeds koopt.

NAMM 2016: Boss Launches 3 New Stompbox Effects: BC-1X, VB-2W and VO-1
