General

By offering up yet another tempting sweet-treat like the Z.Vex Sonar, Z.Vex Effects seeks to spoil all guitarists everywhere. This insanely high-quality tremolo pedal is not just extensive, but sounds beautifully transparent. In fact - set the tremolo point to zero and this stompbox operates in absolute silence. It also responds precisely when it's supposed to - at the start of the tremolo, and this particularly elegant twist on an ancient effect-based theme comes loaded with the circuit from the Z.Vex Machine, which can be switched on or off at will.

The Mouth-Watering Potential of the Sonar

The tremolo speed is initially adjusted via the Speed pot or Tap footswitch, but for an added perk, you can make the tremolo look-ahead, or delay it a touch using the mini-switch found in the top right corner of the control panel and then twist the Delta pot to set the intensity. Use the Duty pot to determine how long you want the 'on' part of the tremolo to hang on for, and by holding down the Tap switch, you gain access to a 'hidden' mode where the Speed, duty, and Delta pots are transformed into Attack, Release, and Depth controls.

The Remarkable and Esteemed Z.Vex

The founder of Z-Vex Effects, Zachary Vex, is no stranger to the land of innovative effect building - in fact he's renowned. By mounting one of these hand-painted stompboxes onto your board, you're joining forces with the many revered guitarists who have done it before you. Each pedal has been handmade by Zachary's self-appointed elves (so he says), and while these hand-painted editions are much sought after, you can also get your grubby mitts on the screen-printed Vexter Series pedals - the same sound quality for a little less cash.
