The Boss VO-1 vocoder stomp box makes it possible to integrate the sound of a human voice in your guitar or bass playing. It allows you to emulate electronic voices, talk-box effects or even choirs with your guitar or bass and offers impressive possibilities so you can breathe new life into your music. The famous synth technology Boss has held a patent for ever since the eighties is responsible for this revolutionary pedal. It's a straightforward device as well - just plug in your guitar and start rockin'!

Powerful expression for guitar and bass

The human voice and its enormous range is undoubtedly the most expressive instrument there is. Now, with the VO-1, every guitarist and bassist can now wield this incredible vocal range. Manipulate your sound with this vocoder and experiment with speech-like effects, electronic voices, a talk-box, wah sounds or even an entire choir. This is an especially handy feature for adding full-sounding backing vocals to your tracks. Keyboard players have been using the vocoder ever since the seventies, but the effect has never been available for guitarists until now.

Unlimited potential

The seemingly endless choices this VO-1 has to offer are simplified into four simple controls. Simply hook up your instrument as you would any other pedal, only with the addition of a microphone, which you'll need for the first three modes. Don't worry, though, you don't even need to be able to sing! Just play the parts on your bass or guitar and transform your own voice using the selection of electronic vocal effects this pedal has to offer. The VO-1 also enables you to mix external effects with the vocoder sounds via the effects loop.

Een mooie aanvulling op mijn pedaalarsenaal. Hij werkt zoals verwacht, top. Kwaliteit: 'Boss', je kan er op trappen. Levenslang plezier! Nu nog even een 'kopmicrofoon' aanschaffen, zodat ik niet constant met m'n muil voor dat ding hoef te hangen. Bax levert zoals belooft, de dag na plaatsing der bestelling. Nix mis mee dus. Ik ga bedenken, inspiratie lonkt.

Wrote the following about Boss VO-1 Vocoder effects pedal

Ik ben geen gitarist noch zanger, maar speel semi modulaire synthesizers. Ik besloot de gok te wagen en bestelde deze VO-1 om zonder microfoon op een semi-modulaire monofone synthesizer te gebruiken. En zoals gewoonlijk volgende dag al in huis, dank u wel Bax!

Sloot de VO-1 aan op de output van een Doepfer Dark Energy II en zette de VO-1 op Choir. Toen sloot ik de output van de VO-1 (TONE open en COLOR dicht) aan op de audio input van een Dreadbox NYX met wat van de geintegreerde reverb en toen kreeg ik het synth geluid waar ik altijd van droomde:

Een Gregoriaanse monniken zang stijl geluid dat bijvoorbeeld Isao Tomita voor elkaar kreeg met alleen maar onwijs grote en dure modulaire Moog systemen.

En nu heb ik die sound voor maar 150 Eurootjes. Wat klinkt dat mooi zeg! En ik kan die monniken zang stem blenden, levellen en kleuren hoe ik wil.

Zeven sterren zeker!

Pedaal werkt goed. Gebruik 'm als bassist .Wennen is om tegelijkertijd te spelen en te zingen...
Batterij die bijgeleverd is was wel snel leeg... Adapter is geen overbodige luxe.
