General

The Electro Harmonix Pan Pedal is a multifunctional pedal from the innovative Next Step series. Remarkably, it is entirely free of moving or mechanical parts, which means it’s virtually wear and tear-proof. The Pan Pedal is equipped with an accelerometer that registers each movement. As such, it responds quickly and offers precise control over the stereo image of your instrument(s).

EHX Pan Pedal: four functions

The pedal is equipped with two inputs and two outputs. Depending on the connections you create, the pedal is capable of performing four different functions. You can use the Pan Pedal as a mono or stereo volume pedal, but if you connect a single instrument to one of its inputs and two amplifiers to its outputs, it serves as a pan pedal. That means you can smoothly switch between the two different amps. Alternatively, you can use two inputs and a single mono output, turning the EHX Pan Pedal into a blend pedal that mixes incoming signals.

Power and calibration

Use a 9V battery or a standard 9V adapter to power the Electro Harmonix Pan Pedal. If you’re using a battery, the pedal is activated once you plug into the left input. To switch the effect on or off, simply tip the pedal forward past the flat position. If you’re playing on a slanted surface, make sure to calibrate the pedal beforehand: place the pedal on the floor, keep the calibration button pressed down (the logo will flash) and tip the pedal backward until the logo lights up continuously. The Pan Pedal is now ready to be used!

Electro Harmonix Next Step Pan Pedal
Wrote the following about Electro Harmonix Next Step Pan Pedal

Late last year, Electro Harmonix introduced the Crash Pad Analog Drum Synth, and at NAMM 2016 they'll be unleashing the Super Space Drum. Where the Crash Pad creates electronic cymbal sounds, the Space Drum generates a typically '80s drum sound - electronic yet warm and full of character. It can be used as either a standalone unit, or in combination with a looper or clock generator, for instance.
