General

The Orange VT1000 Valve Tester is a new milestone on the road to perfect tube technology. This clever portable device allows you to safely see it the valves of an amplifier match and what their state is. Until now, testing valves was often an expensive, unreliable thing to do, but no more! This practical tool is easy to use, so you don't have to be an expert to do so.

User-friendly

The VT1000 has one input for 8 pins and two for 9, making it suitable for many types of valves. It is dead-easy to control, just put the tube in the correct input, select the type of valve with the soft-tip buttons and press OK to commence testing. The digital processor will run a series of complex tests in about two minutes, after which you can easily read the results on the clear LED indicators, which also show you whether the valve is good, worn or broken.

The search for the ultimate tone

The idea behind the Valve Tester is to test the combination of tubes to see which valves combine well, and which are still operational without biasing again. This means you no longer need complex knowledge, encouraging guitarists to experiment even more with the tubes inside their amplifiers. The 15 LEDs show a certain value, and the idea is that the valve share it as much as possible to prevent one working harder than the others, creating uneven wear.

Wednesday 22 June 2016 By Richard | Bax Music

Roland have captured the sound of jazz-blues-fusion guitarist Robben Ford in a new Tone Capsule for the Roland Blues Cube guitar amplifier. There's no need to take our word for it though, or even Roland's word for that matter. Robben Ford himself had the following to say: "I've been playing through tube amplifiers all my life. So how close we got to that sound, you know, to me is quite phenomenal. To think that Roland has come up with something that is as convincing as this is pretty impressive."
