General

Keith McMillen's QuNeo is a remarkable pad controller that looks like it came from a different planet. Equipped with numerous pressure-sensitive touch sliders, pads and rotary encoders, it enables you to control your software by pushing, sliding, turning and drumming. Connect it to your laptop via USB, and start experimenting in your DAW!

The QuNeo in practice

It's not hard to see where Keith McMillen got the inspiration for this controller. The QuNeo looks just as stylish as an iPad, and is about the same size, which means it easily fits in an iPad sleeve or on an iPad stand, and can even be mounted by means of an iPad adapter. More important, however, is the pad controller's excellent workflow. Thanks to continuous feedback by means of bright LEDs, you always know exactly what's up. In no time at all, you can read the status of your controller.

Pads, touch sliders and rotary encoders

The QuNeo is equipped with numerous controls that help you produce any sound you want, and perform any function you need. To start off, there are sixteen pads that are sensitive to velocity (127 levels), pressure and location (X/Y). Secondly, the controller offers two rotary encoders, which have a similar function as conventional knobs, but can be used to create exceptional effects as well, by pinching your fingers on their pressure-sensitive surfaces. Your fingers' angle, pressure and distance from the centre are continuously registered. The QuNeo also boasts a long-pressure-sensitive multi-touch slider and eight pressure-sensitive touch sliders, all easily mappable. It's even possible to select specific ranges, which is particularly interesting for effects that only work within a certain frequency range. Finally, a number of buttons with switch functionality are at your disposal. They serve as transport controls, or perform any other function you assign to them.

Tips or comments about this product
  • Combine the QuNeo with the Keith McMillen QuNeo Rogue to make it fully wireless.

Keith MCmillen QuNeo pad controller
Wrote the following about Keith MCmillen QuNeo pad controller
