General

The IK Multimedia iRig Pads is an exceptionally practical MIDI controller for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Mac and PC. This little device, equipped with 16 velocity-sensitive pads, comes with a USB cable (PC/Mac) and an iOS Lightning cable. A 30-pin cable for iOS devices is sold separately. You can use the iRig Pads for all kinds of MIDI applications. Not only does it control sequencers and other MIDI music software, it's also a great match for your lighting software.

iRig Pads: triggering and adjusting

Sixteen backlit pads provide you with an ultra-fast way of triggering effects, loops, program changes, samples, notes and other MIDI-assignable functions. Two knobs and a fader, meanwhile, make for easy adjustments in volume and other levels. In short, the iRig Pads is a versatile controller that is particularly suitable for mobile applications. Combine it with a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone, and you've got yourself a nice little setup.

Wrote the following about IK Multimedia iRig Pads controller (iOS, Mac, Windows)

Vrij fors aan de prijs voor wat het is. Wel direct op een iOS apparaat aansluiten via het bijgeleverde proprietary kabeltje (niet kwijtraken dus!).
Voelt wat licht en plastic aan, maar de features zijn mooi compleet en het apparaat is lekker compact. Voor mijn gevoel had hij echter nog wat dunner gekund; voelt als een leeg broodtrommeltje.
Leuke softwarebundle, ook voor iDevices, maar voor dit geld heb je ook een akai MPD226, maar die heeft bijvoorbeeld geen pedaalaansluiting, wat toch best een dimensie toevoegen kan.
Dit is zo'n beetje de kleinste 4x4 pad controller die serieus speelbaar is, maar duur is hij wel. Zeker zonder midi.
