General
The CTRL 49 is perhaps M-Audio's most impressive MIDI keyboard ever! That's not just because it features a number of knobs and pads and a semi-weighted keyboard, but also because of VIP. This stands for Virtual Instrument Player, software that allows complete integration with your VST instruments. Simply install the software on a Windows or Mac computer and you can create one library containing all of your virtual instruments which you can then control directly from the CTRL 49! Real time feedback will be shown on the detailed 4.3-inch colour screen.
Multiple layers and setlists
Producers and keyboard players who have tried the CTRL 49 in combination with the VIP software won't want anything else. Finally, it's no longer necessary to keep going back to your laptop when you want to activate the right sounds. Any virtual instrument in your collection can be called up and edited directly from the CTRL 49. It's even possible to layer up to 8 instruments on top of one another (also from different plugins) and adjust the volume, pan, transposition and split per patch! On the stage you can also make use if highly practical setlists.

Hi Pi-Qui,
For the time being the list is up to date. Adding custom maps is time consuming and we are spending the effort looking at ways to allow customers to create their own mapping to a similar level that we can.

Daarvoor had ik het keyboard niet gekocht, veel van mijn plugins, waaronder verschillende van Waves, gaven wel erg summier iets aan, of helemaal niks. Ik wilde gebruikersgemak voor op het podium en een midi keyboard wat goed werkt.
Dus de P4 weer teruggestuurd, en een M-audio CRTL49 gekocht.
Ik was een beetje zenuwachtig dit keer.
Zou alles goed werken? En daar was de keyboard dan. Groot en veel knoppen.
Dus aangesloten op mijn MBP i7 , software gedownload, en geauthoriseerd.
Alles leek goed te gaan.
Maar, het keyboard werd niet gezien in audio midi setup. Het vreemde was dat het in Logic Pro X en Ableton wel werkte, maar niet met de VIP software! Nadat Bax met de VIP expert had gebeld van AkaiPro werd me een oplossing toegestuurd.
Maar waar was mijn MIDI window gebleven. Die lijkt in High Sierra verplaatst te zijn?
OK. Uiteindelijk vond ik de window en zag de P4 controller staan.
Dat was niet de bedoeling. Dus als je dezelfde of soortgelijke problemen hebt doe dan het volgende;
Run Audio/Midi Setup
Select Window, then select Midi Window,
A listing of midi devices will then appear.
Click the drop down box where it says default and select New Configuration
Name this whatever you like.
Click Ok
Plug in your USB midi device, it should show.
Click on the controller and click test setup.
This should then appear in your chosen DAW.
Please ensure that you have the latest DAW version and updates for your operating system.
This should resolve your issues."
En inderdaad alles werkt nu! Het keyboard speelt lekker, de patches zo'n 35.000 worden razendsnel geladen en de multi's zijn uitermate handig. Kortom uiteindelijk het beste keyboard wat ik ooit heb bezeten.
En de complimenten voor de uitstekende service van Bax.
Hierdoor ontstaan een massa aan klank mogelijkheden.
Het is eventjes zoeken betreffende de instellingen van het toestel de MIDI en DAW. Maar een beetje surfen op het internet biedt een massa instrukties en uitleg.
Elke dag ontdek ik nog nieuwe klankcombinaties.
De CTRL49 is zeker een aanrader en zelfs maar dan 5 sterren waard.
Uiteraard is de leveringstermijn van BAX weeral meer als voortreffelijk.
Maandagavond besteld en de dag erna voor de middag geleverd...prima, alsook de voortreffelijke informatie van de helpdesk vóór de aanschaf.
