From a distance, it looks like nothing more than the grille of a vocal microphone, But nothing could be further from the truth! It's actually a highly effective shotgun microphone windshield. It's quite a change from all those 'dead cats' windshields! The Rycote 15cm SuperSoftie 19/22 3D-Tex for a shotgun microphone is one of a series of super-soft windshields. You'd never guess by looking at it that it would be capable of such an impressive performance. That's because it's made of 3D-Tex, a new material with a clear cell structure.

The practical advantages of 3D-Tex

A top priority of a shotgun mic is the audio, of course, seeing as they're used by professionals (journalists, broadcasting, etc.) This is also the strength of the 3D-Tex series - the sound is very transparent and low frequencies in particular receive lots of space to come forwardcome through well. Another practical advantage of this product is that you can simply wring it dry if it should it get wet, and place it right back on the mic to be used again. If it gets dirty, it's simply a matter of rinsing it off and squeezing it dry, and you can get back to work.
