General
The Korg TM-50 combo tuner metronome is the successor of the popular TM-40. One of the main improvements is the possibility to use both the tuner and the metronome function simultaneously! With the advanced chromatic tuner you can either tune an instrument or practice your hearing. With the metronome you can train yourself to keep perfect pace or to play certain rhythm patterns, or you can deduce the perfect pace for a specific piece of music. The TM50 has a small, folding stand integrated in the back, which allows you to position it upright.
Tuning with the Korg TM50 combo
In order to tune your instrument you can either use the built-in microphone or connect your electronic instrument to the 6.3 mm jack input. The improved digital needle-type meter is visible in the clear display (which now has two brightness levels). It is highly sensitive, which allows you to tune your instrument very accurately. If you prefer to tune by ear, you can use the Sound Out function, which produces a reference tone from the internal speaker. An additional new feature of the Korg TM50 is the Sound Back function: play a note on your instrument and the TM50 will play the nearest reference tone and show the discrepancy in the meter. It’s a great way of training your sense of pitch!
Additional options
For wind instrument players and vocalists it is very convenient to be able to tune to major and minor thirds. The Korg TM 50 allows you to do so by providing marks on the meter scale that indicate pure major and minor thirds, relative to a given pitch. The combo tuner metronome is powered by two AAA batteries. If you like, you can use the TM-50 in combination with the optional Korg CM-100L contact microphone: ideal for noisy environments.
