General
The AZ Series is what happens when a guitar builder like Ibanez openly collaborates with guitarists from around the world. The 100% Japanese AZ2402 Prestige has been carefully crafted for agility and flexibility. The maple neck and fretboard have both undergone the special Ibanez S-Tech wood-roasted treatment for enhanced durability and stability, since the wood is less sensitive to temperature and humidity shifts, and therefore less prone to warping. This has then been finished with oil to add another layer of protection and a smooth and familiar, played-in feel, while the AZ Oval C-profile sits comfortably in the palm and a set of 24 hard-wearing stainless-steel jumbo frets provide light playability.
The Ibanez AZ2402L: Effortless Playability
The contoured ST-style alder body has been given a deep belly-cut and feels just as snug and comfy as the neck, and the robust T1802 two-point tremolo bridge, developed in collaboration with Gotoh, boasts supreme tuning retention and supports fearless and supple divebomb and vibrato trickery. Taking the tuning stability to the maximum level, six Gotoh Magnum Lock locking tuners have been fitted. These HAP-M machine heads boast precise tuning post height adjustment so that the perfect level of tension can be applied to each individual string.
Seymour Duncan Hyperion & The dyna-MIX10 Switching System
Ibanez have also worked alongside the venerable Seymour Duncan to develop the mounted medium-gain Hyperion humbucker pickups, giving this instrument its warm, full, Alnico-5-sound, coloured with a transparent attack that loses none of its clarity even when squeezed through distortion. But it's the Ibanez Dyna-MIX 10 switching system where the astounding level of flexibility offered by this model really shines. Featuring an Alter switch, this intelligent system endows this game-changer of a guitar with no fewer than 10 different sound profiles.
