General

The microphones from the Buttercream collection (B series) are the best microphones that Avantone Pro have to offer! Their specs are equal to those of much more expensive microphones, and will even surpass those of a few! The BV-12 is a tube microphone with an adjustable pickup pattern, and a warm, tranquil sound. You might associate it with the great vintage tube microphones from the '50s and '60s! This versatile mic can be used for vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, drum overhead, piano, room microphone and lots more besides!

The sound and adjustable pickup pattern of the BV-12

On the accessory power adapter you'll find a rotary knob with which you can adjust the pickup pattern of the microphone. You can choose between an omnidirectional, cardioid and figure-8 patterns, and six intermediate patterns. You'll always find a pickup pattern for your application! The low and middle frequencies of your instrument are given a warm edge with the BV-12 it also provides definition thanks to open and sparkly trebles, however!

Construction of the microphone

The BV-12 looks great, is durable, and it's made with high-grade components. Its rugged housing and capsule are made of brass, and the transformer-coupled tube circuits are based on the renowned European vintage designs. The double golden Mylar diaphragm has a diameter of no less than 34 mm, and comes with a power adapter, cables, durable shockmount and even a striking case.
