It's becoming increasingly easy to build your own home studio. With the ESIO MARA22 Studio Producer package, you're off to a great start. This recording bundle consists of the MARA22XTU USB audio interface, the RM19 condenser microphone and a pair of MH50 headphones, and also includes an XLR cable for the mic and a 6.35mm - RCA cable. With a single purchase, you're all set up to make effortless, high-quality recordings.
ESIO MARA22XTU interface
The main component of this set is the ESIO MARA22XTU, a USB audio interface that features an XLR input with a preamplifier and a phantom power supply, as well as a high-impedance Hi-Z TS instrument input. Thanks to its USB port, this user-friendly interface can easily be connected, and at a 24-bit/96kHz audio resolution, it delivers crystal-clear sound.
RM19 microphone
The RM19 is a condenser microphone with a super-cardioid pickup pattern. As such, you won't have to worry about feedback, and perfect recording clarity is ensured. A frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz makes this microphone ideal for electro-acoustic recordings - use it for vocals, guitars and other string instruments, drums and wind instruments. An XLR cable is included, so you can easily connect the RM19 to your interface.
MH50 headphones
Place the MH50 headphones on your head, and you'll be able to hear every single detail of your recordings. Their over-ear design efficiently blocks out background noise, and their 50mm drivers deliver high-quality audio with a pronounced bass response. Thanks to a frequency response of 10 Hz to 30 kHz, the headphones are perfect for virtually any music style. Their 2-metre cable is fitted with a gold-plated 3.5mm stereo plug, and a 3.5mm to 6.3mm plug adapter is included, so you'll be able to use the MH50s wherever you are.

Conclusie: tevreden.
Helderheid van opnames en feedback zijn inderdaad niet direct met elkaar verbonden. Uiteraard is het wel zo dat een microfoon met een supercardioïde richtingkarakteristiek minder last heeft van feedback en dat komt de opnames wel ten goede. Bedankt voor je opmerkzaamheid.

Download en installeer voor gebruik met Windows wel eerst de nieuwe sofware (zie de rubriek "Downloads" hiernaast), want met het meegeleverde stuurprogramma (versie 1.1) kun je alleen 44,1 of 48 kHz als sample rate kiezen. Met de nieuwere versie (1.3) werkt ook de sample rate van 96 kHz.
Het stuurprogramma ondersteunt officieel alleen Windows-versies van XP t/m 8.1, maar werkt ook met Windows 10.
De software wordt meegeleverd op een flashdrive van 32 MB in de vorm van een creditcard. Na het downloaden en uitpakken van het nieuwe stuurprogramma kan je de nieuwe software ook op dit kaartje zetten, zodat je het altijd bij de hand hebt.
De RM19 is geen professionele studiomicrofoon, maar voelt (ondanks dat de buitenkant van plastic is) wel lekker zwaar en degelijk aan. De microfoon is zeer richtinggevoelig en neemt hoofdzakelijk geluid van recht voor de microfoon op. Achtergrondgeluiden van de zijkanten zijn beduidend zachter. Het frequentiebreik van de microfoon loopt min of meer vlak door tot ongeveer 20 kHz. Daarboven valt het signaal snel terug en vanaf ongeveer 22500 Hz blijft er alleen wat ruis over rond -100 dB. (Dit ligt ver boven de gehoorgrens en wordt alleen opgenomen bij een sample rate van 96 kHz.)
De MH50 hoofdtelefoon zit vrij strak, maar geeft het geluid goed weer. Het is een gesloten 'over de oren' model dat weinig geluid naar buiten doorlaat, zodat hij goed te gebruiken is voor het opnemen van zang of radioprogramma's.
De MARA22XTU geluidskaart doet wat hij moet doen. De ingebouwde versterker voor de hoofdtelefoon is praktisch ruisvrij, dus als er geen signaal wordt weergegeven hoor je niets. Voorop zit een draaiknop om het volume van de hoofdtelefoon in te stellen. Deze wordt verlicht door een blauw verlichte ring. Alle andere volumeregelingen en instellingen moeten via de software worden ingesteld.
Wanneer je tegelijkertijd het microfoonsignaal en een instrument opneemt, hoor je de microfoon links en het instrument rechts. Je kunt de microfoon of het instrument ook alleen opnemen. Je hoort dit dan op beide stereokanalen (in mono). Achterop zit nog een stereo 'line in'-aansluiting. Als je deze selecteert dan hoor je de microfoon en het instrument niet meer, maar je kunt hiermee bijvoorbeeld het geluid van een mixer, een bandrecorder of een radio digitalizeren. Als je er een versterker met een 'line out' tussen zet, dan kan je via deze extra ingang dus bijvoorbeeld ook opnamen maken van je platenspeler. (Hier is dit setje niet echt voor bedoeld, maar als je al een goede platenspeler zonder USB-aansluiting hebt dan is dit een handige bijkomstigheid.)
