General

The IK Multimedia SampleTron 2 adds a meaty and classic chunk of tape-based Mellotron sound to your DAW. A virtual ode to the sampler that started it all, this package includes the flute first heard during studio sessions with The Beatles, as well as tape-sampled strings, a choir, and plenty more. The original machine was essentially a kind of early keyboard that played back a physical tape loop whenever a note was struck, and here, IK Multimedia offer a virtual version fit for the digital age. The SampleTron 2 doesn't just set your desktop up with one virtual Mellotron but essentially four, since you also get the similar versions that followed the original, including an emulation of the Roland VP-330. Open your mind, let go of hi-fi and embrace beautifully tape-warped lo-fi sound!
