General

The Sony MDR-1ABT headphones are designed to let you experience music that matches the original studio recordings more closely. From the deepest bass tones to the highest trebles, these headphones produce them accurately. With a frequency range of up to 100 kHz the MDR-1ABTs capture the essence of each song. In case you haven't guessed yet - these headphones were designed specifically for high-resolution audio.

Sony MDR-1ABT: Bluetooth streaming

These headphones feature sensitive 40mm Liquid Crystal Polymer drivers, ensuring optimal clarity. With superior-quality Bluetooth streaming you will enjoy listening to music from your Android smartphone or iPhone more than ever before. An inline remote and microphone also make calls possible. Sony's Bluetooth LDAC codec supports a bit rate up to three times higher than standard Bluetooth streaming with sample rates of 96 kHz and more efficient encoding for CD-like quality. Thanks to the Touch Sensor on the earpieces you can play, stop or skip tracks. With a swipe up or down you can also change the volume and answer calls with a touch.

Balanced cable

The MDR-1ABT headphones are equipped with a balanced cable, comprised of four silver-coated copper wires and independent ground wires for both channels (in blue and yellow), guaranteeing clear, precise sound. With these headphones you'll experience your favourite music the way the artist intended. You'll notice how comfortable these headphones are as soon you put them on, thanks to the enclosed design, the sleek metal headband and the soft leather ear pads. The MDR-1ABT headphones have foldable earpieces for easy transport and storage.

Tips or comments about this product

Information about high-resolution audio files

An audio file with high resolution offers higher sample rates, typically 24 bit/96 kHz and 24 bit/192 kHz, which is significantly higher than CD quality. While CDs and MP3 files reach their limit around 20 kHz, high-resolution audio supports frequencies over 24 kHz. De MDR-1ABT headphones can handle frequencies up to 100 kHz. You can purchase high-resolution audio files through paid music services and transfer them easily to your home or portable audio system.

High-resolution audio comes in six different formats:

  • DSD (DFF): used in professional equipment for the creation of Super Audio CDs
  • DSD (DSF): a PC-friendly format developed for VAIO® computers
  • WAV: a format developed for the Windows operating system
  • AIFF: a file format for Macintosh computers
  • FLAC: for compression without loss of quality
  • ALAC: for compression without loss of quality by Apple

Sony MDR-1ABT Bluetooth headphones for hi-res audio
Wrote the following about Sony MDR-1ABT Bluetooth headphones for hi-res audio
The headphones are without doubt brilliant, they do everything and more and are the best headphones I have ever had the privilege to own...that said delivery was so long it took the edge off the purchase. I would not hesitate to recommend the headphones but the customer service from Bax is non existent...maybe I was just unlucky but i doubt it.
Sony MDR-1ABT Bluetooth headphones for hi-res audio
Wrote the following about Sony MDR-1ABT Bluetooth headphones for hi-res audio
