General
The smallest harmonica in the world, still it plays like a normal-size harmonica. The Little Lady was the first musical instrument in space, as it was played by Walter Schirra on the Gemini 6 mission.
Hohner's Little Lady
This small diatonic harmonica is equipped with four holes. The comb, like the mouthpiece, is made of pear wood. The covers are made of stainless steel and the reeds and reed plates are made of brass. This harmonica is tuned in the key of C so that, despite its small size, it is very well suited for playing along to music in the key of G.
Extra-terrestrial qualities
It is a fun fact that this harmonica was the first musical instrument to leave earth. On the 16th of December 1965, astronaut Walter Schirra surprised his earth-bound colleagues with a 1:38 minute-long rendition of Jingle bells on board of the Gemini 6, which he played on the Little Lady: the smallest harmonica on earth (and in space)!
